On 28 November, Thursday, at 7 p.m. the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre shall welcome an important cultural event related to the 3rd Eastern Partnership Summit taking place in Vilnius: performance of an extraordinary I, CULTURE Orchestra, which is included in the Lithuanian EU Presidency‘s calendar.

The I, CULTURE Orchestra was formed in 2011 by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute as part of the cultural program of the Polish EU Council Presidency. From the very beginning, the Orchestra has embodied the key objectives of the Eastern Partnership and strives to become a vehicle for positive cultural and social international development by engaging the most talented young musicians from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine and Poland. Celebrating the cultural and musical heritage of Central and Eastern Europe, ICO is a young ensemble of remarkably high quality. Its mission is to achieve artistic perfection while respecting and cherishing the cultural diversity among the musicians from the seven countries participating in the project. Under renowned conductors, ICO has performed its international tours to great acclaim in some of Europe’s most prestigious concert halls, including the Berliner Philharmonie, Royal Festival Hall in London and the Teatro Real in Madrid. The Orchestra’s 2013 tour included concerts in Gdańsk, Reykjavík, Gothenburg, Copenhagen, Tallinn and Kyiv.

This special event is organised jointly by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania, Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland, Adam Mickiewicz Institute, Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Vilnius and Polish Institute in Vilnius.
