I, CULTURE Orchestra is pleased to invite you to percussion section masterclasses, which will be held in Warsaw on 25th November 2012. They will be conducted by Damien Bassman, a renowned percussionist and a member of, among others, Absolute Ensamble. The masterclasses will take place at The Fryderyk Chopin University of Music, room 144 (-1 floor), adress – ul. Okólniki 2, between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM. No enrollment required.
Damien Bassman wrote & played the drum/percussion books for the Tony and Pulitzer Prize winning Next To Normal,The Color Purple, The Addams Family, High Fidelity and Mario Cantone’s Laugh Whore. As principle percussionist of Absolute Ensemble he’s toured and recorded with fusion legend Joe Zawinul and world-renown artists such as Paquito Di Rivera, Mike Keneally, Marcel Khalife, and Gregor Bregovich. Damien has performed in Europe, Asia, New Zealand, Australia, & America and has been a featured soloist with the NDR Radiophilharmonie in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland, the MDR in Leipzig, Freyburg, Hannover, Hamburg, and Lubek, the Tonkustler Orchestra in Vienna, and the Adelaide Symphony in Australia. He has appeared on David Letterman, The View, Oprah, and Good Morning America. He is on faculty at the Bremen Musicfest, the Baltic Youth Philharmonic, and at Marymount Manhattan College and accompanies dance throughout NYC, performing with companies such as Alvin Ailey, Cunningham, and Battleworks. Damien has drummed for Sir Elton John, Barry Manilow, Ben Folds, John Cameron Mitchell, Rufus Wainwright, and is the drummer for many NYC-based singers and bands including Broadway and TV star Kristin Chenoweth, Brian D’Arcy James, Jarrod Spector, Judy Kuhn, and The Tom Kitt Band.
